Genetics of "naked" colors.
Table of colors.
The genetics of the colors of Sphynx is no different from the genetics of the colors of ordinary cats. But there is a difficulty with the correct definition of, for example, such colors as cream, lilac, it is not possible to determine the colors of the shaded group (smokes, chinchillas). Nevertheless, Sphynx obey the general rules of inheritance of colors, which are discussed in detail below:
Dominant and recessive colors:
- WHITE dominates ALL OTHER COLORS
- White markings (bicolor, harlequin, van) dominate the solid color
- Black dominates blue
- Black dominates chocolate
- Black, chocolate and blue dominate over lilac
- Red dominates cream
- Black tortoiseshell dominates blue-cream
- Patterned colors (tabby) dominate over solid ones
- Solid color dominates colorpoint colors (point, mink, sepia)
Designations of colors of the colorpoint group:
- cscs - point (eyes from violet and blue)
- cbcb - sepia (green-gold eyes)
- cscb — mink, a combination of point + sepia (eyes from blue to aqua)
As can be seen from the genetic formula, the "carrier" of the mink does not exist in nature! This is a color that a kitten can get only from a certain combination of colors of both parents (including recessive carrier), namely:
- when mating point and sepia
- when mating point and mink
- when mating mink and mink
- when mating mink and sepia
Never get a mink from a combination of a point and a point, never get a mink from a combination of sepia and sepia (and it doesn't matter at all that these sepia and points were born from a mink). All the unpredictability of this color lies in its recessiveness in relation to all other colors, which means that a mink can be born from parents of almost any color (white, black, tiger, red, spotted, etc.) if they turn out to be: one is a carrier of a point, and the other is a carrier of sepia.
Kittens of colorpoint color are always born completely white, only after a while do their points darken - muzzle, ears, paws, tail. Moreover, since naked cats do not have a selection based on the contrast of markings, you can see an almost completely darkened body in the sphynx.
TABLE OF SOLID COLORS
POSSIBLE COLORS OF KITTENS IN THE LITTER:

- The table shows the main colors of Sphynx.
- Since white color is the absence of color, we look at white cats by genetic color (you can find it by pedigree or gentest).
- The colors bicolour, harlequin, van are indicated in the table without white, we look only at the main color, for example:
- Black bicolour = Black
- Blue harlequin = Blue
- Chocolate van = Chocolate
- and others
- Tabby colors in the table are indicated without tabby, we look only at the main color, for example:
- Black tabby = Black
- Blue tabby = Blue
- Chocolate tabby = Chocolate
- and others
- The colors of the colorpoint group (point, mink, sepia) are indicated in the table without colorpoint, we look only at the main color, for example:
- Seal point = Black
- Blue mink = Blue
- Chocolate sepia = Chocolate
- and others
- Complex colors (for example, colors with white, colorpoint group and tabby are represented in one cat) are presented in the table without such designations, we look only at the main color, for example:
- Seal point tabby bicolour = Black
- Blue mink harlequin = Blue
- Chocolate tabby van = Chocolate
- and others
Color designation:
n - black
a - blue
b - chocolate
c - lilac
d - red
e - cream
f - black tortie
g - blue tortie
h - chocolate tortie
j - lilac tortie
w - white
